Greetings from DHARMA BUM III enroute to Chagos in the Indian Ocean 01=?ISO-8859-1?Q?=B043.73'N 085=B0?=23.22'E

Hi guys,

How's it going?

We are drifting along with almost no wind - very slow going here. Strong current against us, too. Surprisingly few squalls, but I guess that will change as soon as we enter the doldrums. According to the radio, Taipei is now full of evacuees from Japan. Our friends are still in Japan, but packed up and ready to fly out on a moment's notice. What a nightmare!

On a more positive note, we are looking forward to Chagos, especially as all our friends there send glowing reports. I bottled 24 liters of "Coopers Dark Ale" and and 24 liters of "Lion Lager" on this trip already. ;-) You can see big dolphins zooming around in the super-clear water. And zillions of stars at night.

06=?ISO-8859-1?Q?=B030.97'N 096=B0?=08.57'E Soon entering the Great Strait between Sumatra and the Nicobar Islands

Since leaving Ko Adang (Thailand), we've had light winds from behind. Almost always 4 Beaufort. The weather has been quite squally, but nothing over 30 knots yet. Saw a few ships and one fishing boat came very close for a look. They left when I made it clear that I feared to get hit by their wildly pitching and rolling boat. Now it is back to regular classes for our daughter and the pleasant rhythm of the sea for all of us.

Leaving Langkawi

Sunday we will clear out here in Kuah, Langkawi, Malaysia and plan to leave soon thereafter. First stop is Ko Lipe in Thailand and then on to Chagos (BIOT), where we will have to leave on 25 April. On to Mauritius, where we intend to stay for three months, then Réunion, Madagascar and South Africa, where we hope to celebrate Christmas and Ulani's 8th birthday.
